how do i look up a word using my computer as a dictionary?

2. Go here http://dictionary.reference.com/

4. You can go to www.merriam-webster.com
5. use google. in the search box just type define: (and the word goes here)
6. go to wikipedia click on the language you prefer and on the left hand side you will see a search box type in the word there

8. I usually add at least one dictionary to the Search Box in my Firefox Toolbar. There are several to choose from on the Firefox Add-Ons web pages. That way, the definitions are just a mouse-click away, and I don't have to open a new Tab.

10. Type the word in the search window and follow it with this: + definition Some specialized words will not be in standardized dictionaries, so this might work better for some of the really obscure words or the ones that are specific to certain types of activities, like medicine or physics, etc.
